- These people have developed a power known as Alter where they create weapons. The number of Alters rises steadily as the series progresses.
These were collected in a total of nine DVD volumes between November 25, 2001 and July 25, 2002. A DVD box containing all episodes was released on January 25, 2008 whereas a Blu-ray box was made available on October 26, 2011. The anime was licensed by Bandai Entertainment in early 2003.
In the main series, Kazuma never defeats Ryūhō, but the two still come to a similar relationship. The movie, Alteration, implies that Kazuma wins their last fight.

Though not their first one-on-one battle, it is the first in which Ryuho goes entirely all out, summoning not only the full power form of his Alter Zetsuei, but a near homicidal rage for killing Kazuma once and for all.
According to the series' director Gorō Taniguchi, the idea for s-CRY-ed originated in 1999 when he was working on the series Infinite Ryvius. One of Infinite Ryvius's themes was people communicating with each other.
What is s-CRY-ed? Simply, s-CRY-ed is a fighting show for pre-teen boys.
