Is Char Aznable a Newtype?

Is Bright Noa a Newtype?

Char also develops into a Newtype himself, and forms psychic bonds with both Amuro and Lalah. Char's abilities and natural charisma allow him to inspire and manipulate.

Although Bright is not a Newtype, he has nevertheless has some traits and experiences associated with them. He has received several telepathic messages over the series, and can sense when someone in his proximity is "like Amuro" (including Kamille Bidan, Judau Ashta and Banagher Links).

Mu La Flaga and Rau Le Creuset were implied to be Newtypes from the very beginning, and after the series ended, director Mitsuo Fukuda explicitly identified them as having been Newtypes.

Sayla Mass (セイラ・マス Seira Masu) is a 17 year old Newtype from Side 3. Sayla is the younger sister of Char Aznable. She currently serves as a bridge crew member for the Earth Federation aboard White Base. Sayla has also been known to pilot the RX-78-2 Gundam on occasion.

After its initial print run, sealed polybagged back issues of Newtype USA are considered highly collectible. It was replaced in 2008 with PiQ magazine, which ceased publication after four issues. Newtype was also published in South Korea by Daiwon C.I.

newtype [nootahyp, nyootahyp] noun. a person who has reached a new stage of human evolution in the Gundam universe. The theory behind this minor but groundbreaking metamorphosis is: in order to adapt to life in space, the human body evolved with heightened mental awareness. *

Notable Newtypes

The most famous Newtype is probably the legendary Amuro Ray, protagonist of the first series. While Amuro develops into a powerful Newtype, he relies just as much, if not more so, on his superb ability with machinery and his inherent piloting skill than on his other Newtype abilities.
