FMA lacks high-quality visuals and has less instinctive visuals. FMAB uses the advanced form of visuals and has engaging backgrounds. It has an extensive cast and each character is unique which makes the series an interesting watch.

A sequel film which was not based on the original manga, Conqueror of Shamballa, was released in 2005. Following the expiring of their license, and the transfer of the Fullmetal Alchemist anime rights to Aniplex's American branch, Funimation no longer has the rights to the FMA 2003 anime.

The anime premiered on MBS, TBS, and Animax in Japan from October 4, 2003; it ran until October 2, 2004, with a 6.8 percent television viewership rating.

The series finished with the 108th installment in the July 2010 issue of Monthly Shōnen Gangan, published on June 11, 2010. A side-story to the series was published in the October 2010 issue of Monthly Shōnen Gangan on September 11, 2010.

MANGA AND 2009 SERIES • In the volume 2 extras of the manga, Ed is asked how tall he really was. He replied that he was 165 cm (about 5'5") tall. However, this height also included his elevator shoes and hair antenna - his true height at the time was 141 cm (about 4'8").

Summary: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a retelling of the story based off the manga, and is not directly related to the first Fullmetal Alchemist series. Edward and Alphonse Elric are two brothers living in a world where the practice of alchemy flourishes.
