Kosuke Kindaichi (金田一 耕助, Kindaichi Kōsuke) is a fictional Japanese detective created by Seishi Yokomizo, a renowned mystery novelist.
It depends on what you prefer to watch. I really prefer Kindaichi Case files as you can connect to him. It is more realistic than Conan. Kindaichi also has charaters like Akechi who is a rival to him, but becomes his aid in his time of need and the villain Tokoto (hell's puppeteer) who is a real mastermind.
Still an awesome anime worth watching, good stories, interesting characters, great pictures. This many not be not as impressive as the manga and original series, but it is definitely not disappointing. It brings back memories, and I wish there would be more Kindaichi series on Crunchyroll! Contains some spoilers.
Hajime Kindaichi (金田一 一, Kindaichi Hajime), the main character of Kindaichi Case Files, is depicted as the grandson of Kosuke Kindaichi.

The series consists of 148 episodes with each case spanning between 1 and 4 episodes. A double-length TV special was aired on October 13, 1997, between episodes 23 and 24.
