Mac OS users
Click the PDF file's icon in the Finder to select it. Choose File > Get Info. Click the triangle next to Open With, and choose Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat from the pop-up list (if your preference is not on the list, choose Other to select it). Click Change All.

On your Mac, click the Finder icon in the Dock to open a Finder window. Select the folder or file. If you don't see the Preview pane on the right, choose View > Show Preview.
In the Preview app on your Mac, open a PDF or image that you want to view. Do any of the following: Show thumbnails: Choose View > Thumbnails or View > Contact Sheet. Show a document's table of contents (if it has one): Choose View > Table of Contents.
Open a file from Preview
In the Preview app on your Mac, do one of the following: Choose File > Open, locate and select one or more files to open, then click Open. If you worked on a file recently, choose File > Open Recent.
Although you can't edit the text of a PDF in Preview, you can use the markup tools to provide feedback or write down something you want to remember. The editing tools in the Markup toolbar are ideal for collaborating—use them to suggest changes to a PDF and to respond to suggestions.
Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to a folder containing PDF files. In the Windows Explorer dialog, click Show the preview pane (H). The Preview pane appears on the right side of the window. Click on a PDF file for the Preview pane to show the contents of the document.
View images and PDF files
As we mentioned, Preview is the default viewer for your images and PDFs. So if you double-click one of those file types on Mac or select it and choose Open, it will open in Preview.
